Marcin Jarzombek – with a volleyball team of the deaf achieves significant successes
Libero, who feels the ball
Marcin Jarzombek, our next man with passion for many years has been playing libero in the deaf volleyball, and recently won the highest award with his team. What’s interesting, Marcin returned to the care of the coach with whom he gained his first skills in school. We asked Marcin to tell us the story of how the story ended in a circle.
In school days the hall was bursting at the seams.
“The School Sports Club of the Deaf Odra in which I train, this year celebrates its 25th anniversary. In 1994, the decision to establish the club was made by Mr. Jerzy, the then physical education teacher at the Deaf People’s Centre in Racibórz. After retirement, a new president, a young PE teacher, Mr. Krzysztof Krzysztof, was assigned. Mr. Krzysztof has also taken over the role of the boys’ volleyball instructor. There was no shortage of volunteers, the hall was bursting at the seams. Those were very good years of Racibórz volleyball. Participation in the 1997 Polish Championships of the Deaf in Volleyball in Radom, two years later the first place at the National Volleyball Tournament in Lubliniec. After a few years of break (many players finished school and returned to their places of residence), the players asked the coach to reactivate the male volleyball team in Racibórz. Several of them played in the Silesian Rybnik team at that time. Intensive training began and the first successes appeared already in 2004, when the men’s team took the first place on the Polish National Spartakiada of the Deaf organized on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the club Odra Racibórz. A year later, the second place at the Polish Championships, also in Racibórz. I joined the team in 2008.
Not tall, fast, agile – ideal as a libero
Marcin, as his coach emphasizes, made himself known in a good way from the beginning. Ambitious, hard-working, fighting for a place in the top six for a long time. Not tall, fast, felt the ball well, was prepared to play on the libero position. It took a few years before he got a place in the basic line-up, after an experienced colleague of the team, a member of the Polish National Team, left. His career began for good in 2016, when he permanently took over the position of libero and has been in this position ever since. This year, the volleyball players from Racibórz with Marcin Jarzombek won the gold medal at the International Volleyball Tournament in the Czech Republic in Brno, 1st place at the National Oldboy Tournament in Szczecin at the beginning of October and 2nd place at the National Cup Tournament organized from 11-13 October in Racibórz.
Etisoft supports the best
Let’s just add that Etisoft also contributes to this interesting story. Last year we sponsored Marcin’s team with sportswear. We are glad that they were the ones in which he won the victory!
