Novelties in AutoID
In Budapest, a regional partner meeting of Honeywell – one of the largest suppliers of AutoID solutions on the market – took place (6-8 May this year). Etisoft was among the several dozen key partners of this manufacturer in the region of Central and Eastern Europe.
Three days of presentations and intensive discussions was the time that allowed us to deepen our product knowledge and exchange experiences with participants, which in the future will allow us to precisely meet the needs of end users in the field of AutoID devices.
Among the product novelties, it is worth mentioning the following positions:
Mobility Edge™ – hardware and software platform
Mobility Edge™ is a unified hardware and software platform developed by Honeywell for mobile computers. Its main advantage is that only Mobility Edge™ guarantees support for Android R, thus ensuring the longest security cycle on the market.
Certainly, Android has become a standard in the industry. Mobility Edge™ provides consistency in next-generation devices, making it easier for users to manage devices, exchange and implement system applications.
One of the latest Honeywell products based on the Mobility Edge™ platform is Dolphin CK65 terminal. It is a successor to the popular terminals CK3R and CK3X, this time with Android.
Compatibility of accessories, similar dimensions and the same physical keyboards… They make migration from old models extremely easy and affordable for users. The larger 4”’ touchscreen display means a clear menu and less risk of operator error. Clearly legible both indoors and outdoors, the device can be used in almost all conditions. The 1D / 2D scanning modules and the reliable long-range module have been improved. It will definitely work well in high bay warehouses.
Another new product based on the Mobility EdgeTM platform is the Thor VM1A. Computers mounted on forklift trucks are essential tools in everyday work in warehouses or production plants.
Created for tough environments, the Thor VM1A features a powerful Qualcomm® 660 processor, 2×2 MIMO WLAN connectivity, an integrated keyboard, and a large 8” touch screen. This makes it easy to read, both indoors and outdoors. An optional screen defroster is also available for use in cold stores.
Honeywell Handheld Scanners
In the category of handheld scanners, Honeywell introduced the XenonTM XP 1950 series universal scanner. The scanning module of the seventh generation of proven imaging technology, a 1-megapixel camera and an 800 MHz processor. This certainly ensures best-in-class readability of even damaged barcodes. In summary, backward compatibility with Xenon 1900 reader accessories means that replacement with new models does not strain the user’s budget significantly.
PX940 Series Industrial Printers
The latest novelty to the range of industrial printers was the new PX940 series. The innovative design of the device made it possible to use a code verifier integrated with the printing mechanism. Thanks to this solution, we obtain the device in a compact housing, eliminating the risk of unintentional damage to the verifier during operation. As a result, verification of ISO codes immediately after printing is a guarantee of error-free printing and the safety of code reading in subsequent processes.
