How to protect your product against theft
Manufacturers of high-value consumer products intended for sale to the general public are often obliged (by the retailer) to include security features already at the manufacturing stage. They prevent the theft of the product from the point of sale.
Sensormatic anti-theft tags are commonly used in this type of protection. They can function as attachable clips, tags or labels (Ultra Strip II/III). Thus, manufacturers try to automate production processes and use automatic application of anti-theft tags.
The attachment of a security clip to the product can be done manually or semi-automatically. This process can be automated by using labels winded on a roll and using a dedicated applicator.
Application of an anti-theft tag to a cardboard box
One of the industries which uses this type of protection is the cosmetics industry. Some products, due to their high value and small size, can become an easy catch for shoplifters. In order to maintain the aesthetics of the product, it is difficult to locate and remove the protection and anti-theft labels are affixed to the inside of the boxes where the cosmetics are inserted.
The application of the anti-theft tag in this case takes place at the stage when the box is unfolded in the form of a cardboard box. This allows for high efficiency and repeatability of marking.

Our client, a large printing plant, delivers cardboard packaging to a cosmetics manufacturer. They must be supplemented with an anti-theft label. Due to the increasing quantities and types of packaging, manual labelling has not been efficient and cost-effective until now. The proposed solution fully solved the customer’s needs. It allowed to apply labels anywhere on the cardboard box and, above all, increased the efficiency of marking. Also, different shapes of the labeled packages are no longer problematic for the customer.
What is worth noting is the fact that this solution is successfully used in marking every type of cardboard boxes, not only in the cosmetics industry.
